Dive Manado, Indonesia 2012

Take an adventurous plunge into Lembeh Strait – water full of fascinating critters!

A PHOTOGRAPHERS PARADISE!One of the richest areas of maine diversity in the world, Lembeh Strait is now a very popular dive destination for lovers of underwater critters great and small!!!  Along the strait's 12 kilometers are packers an uncountable number of rare critters ; octopuses, frogfish, shrimps, nudibranchs, seahorses and so much more, at more than 40 dive sites.

Lembeh Straits is known as the muck diving capital of the world. This means that there are alot of sites which are sandy slopes, often with black sand, and the viz is 10-15m. Due to the black sand it is perfect for photographers as this reduces back-glare, and this is why many photographers like coming to dive Lembeh.

It is also one of the few places in the world where you will see unusual creatures such as hairy frog fish, pygmy sea horse, large sea horses and flambouyant cuttlefish to name a few.
Lembeh also has some great ship wrecks.  Most of these are covered in coral and critters so are good as wrecks as well as critter-hunting.  The wrecks include Bimoli wreck, Kapal indah and Mawali wreck.

Last but not least, there are also some sites that have small walls and slopes, with soft corals such as Nudi falls, Nudi retreat and Angels Window.

Basically there is diving for everyone!

Lembeh island is located at the northeastern most tip of Sulawesi.  Lembeh Strait is the body of water separating Lembeh Island from the mainland North Sulawesi.  During the pleistocene period, this area became isolated, resulting in a very high level of "speciation", i.e. the development of new species.

There is nowhere else in the world, where visitors can find such an extensive array of marine life and underwater topographical features in such close proximity.
