The Marine Ecology specialty program, you will learn how ocean organisms interact with each other and their environments. You will be taught how energy flows through communities and the links between different ocean ecosystems.

Dr Cayne Layton - Marine Ecologist 

He is a marine ecologist, researcher, and lecturer who mostly focuses on the ecology & restoration of kelp forests and other temperate reef habitats, along with seaweed aquaculture and blue carbon. His work encompasses population and community ecology of rocky reefs; seaweed ecophysiology; and habitat dynamics, productivity, and conservation. He is also passionate about science communication and community engagement, scientific/commercial diving, and Traditional and Indigenous ecological knowledge. 

Cayne was part of the Indepth Scuba team in his previous life, and has a wealth of experience above and below the water.

Course schedule:

Saturday 29th - 
  12pm - arrive at Batemans Bay for theory session
  3pm - shore dive

Sunday 30th - 
  8am - double boat dive at Montague island
  1pm - lunch and final briefing

Course includes:
